Sandhills Center further extends rate increases for specific services in response to COVID-19
Publication Date: March 26, 2021
Sandhills Center today announced a further extension of temporary funding increases to providers within its network to offset costs incurred due to the global pandemic. The rate enhancements -- some of which have been in effect for more than a year -- cover specific services and will remain in place through the end of June 2021.
Temporary Medicaid reimbursement rate increases initially offered in March 2020, are comprised of an additional 15 percent for residential and other services, including:
- Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities
- Behavioral Health Long-Term Residential
- Innovations Residential Services (Residential Supports 1-4, Supported Living 1-3 and Supported Living Periodic)
- Assertive Community Treatment Team
- Community Support Team
- Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services
All other Medicaid services previously had received 5 percent rate increases that were extended through March 2021. Sandhills Center will sustain those rate increases until the end of June 2021, as well.
Sandhills Center also will offer a $50.02 per-person/per-day reimbursement rate to community-based Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs) for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
The ICF temporary reimbursement rate adjustment initially was granted through the COVID-19 Recovery Act, approved by the North Carolina General Assembly in 2020. ICF services provided through state-operated facilities have an alternative reimbursement arrangement and are, therefore, not subject to today’s announced funding extension. The temporary Medicaid reimbursement rate increases were made possible through additional funding afforded at the federal and state levels, and supported by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
The enhanced funding that Sandhills Center has offered during the last year was expected to supplement additional resources needed for the provider network to maintain quality services, including direct-care staffing and the purchase of supplies such as personal protective equipment. Sandhills Center appreciates the opportunity to offer, once again, additional support. We will continue to evaluate and consider additional rate amendments during this crisis, if necessary.
