Richmond County hosts its second CIT training in 2019

Sandhills Center is proud to have cosponsored Crisis Intervention Team training in Richmond County during the week of October 14, 2019. This is the second CIT class conducted in Richmond County this year. The first class graduated in January 2019. Thirteen officers representing the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Hamlet Police Department and Rockingham Police Department participated in the October 2019 class. As part of the 40-hour curriculum, participants met individuals and families with lived experience and visited a local provider to speak with people who are receiving services. Lt. Clyde Smith of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office served as host officer. In addition to Sandhills Center, CIT in Richmond County is cosponsored by the Richmond Community College, Daymark, NAMI – Moore County, Therapeutic Alternatives, FirstHealth, the Rockingham Police Department and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
