Registry of Unmet Needs

WHAT IS THE REGISTRY OF UNMET NEEDS?

The Registry of Unmet Needs is a waiting list for people with an I/DD diagnosis who are eligible to receive NC Innovations Waiver services. More people want these services than there are available spaces, or “slots.” The registry is first-come, first-served. Through the waiting list, Sandhills Center can keep track of who wants a slot. When slots open up, people are assigned to the waiver based on when they joined the registry. Only the North Carolina General Assembly can approve more slots. Because funding is limited, individuals are placed on the waiting list until more slots are available.

HOW DO I GET ON THE LIST?

If you are the parent or guardian of an individual with an I/DD diagnosis who will need services in the future, contact Sandhills Center at 1-800-256-2452. Our staff can provide more information about eligibility. You also can learn more about what other services may be available while on the waitlist.

WHAT IS THE NC INNOVATIONS WAIVER?

The goal of these waiver services is to allow individuals to live as independently as possible within their homes and communities. The waiver also offers help for families to manage their services and make choices that are best for them.
