First CIT class of the new year held in Guilford County

Publication Date: February 21, 2020

Guilford County held the first Crisis Intervention (CIT) training class for 2020 during the week of Feb. 17. This was one of the largest classes Sandhills Center has ever cosponsored. There were 27 graduates, representing the UNCG Police Department, Guilford County Sheriff's Office, NC A&T Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, Mayodan Police Department, Orange County Sheriff's Office, High Point Park Rangers, Guilford Metro 911, and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Probation and Parole. This also is the first time park rangers have participated in CIT in the Sandhills Center region. Lt. Holly Pate of the Greensboro Police Department and Sgt. Beth Buskirk of the Guilford County Sheriff's Office served as host officers. CIT in Guilford County is a collaboration between the Greensboro Police Department, Guilford County Sheriff's Office, NAMI-Guilford, Guilford Technical Community College and Sandhills Center. Photo credit: Heather Odendahl, Sandhills Center
