#CareForNC celebrates the successes of stronger communities through NC's public behavioral health system

Sandhills Center is proud to be a part of North Carolina's Partnership for Community Well-Being, which recently launched the #CareForNC campaign.

The #CareForNC campaign advocates for a stronger North Carolina through effective supports for people living with mental health challenges, substance use disorders and intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Please see the videos that were produced about success stories in the Sandhills Center region:

We appreciate stories like Blake's. He's an intelligent and artistic young man who lives with autism. Due to early intervention and tailored services through the Sandhills Center network of providers, Blake is thriving with a bright future ahead. His art is gaining local and national attention, and has been sold to collectors and national retailers alike.

We are proud of stories like Jennifer's. Jennifer was once a patient at the Guilford County Residential Treatment Facility in High Point. More recently, she worked as a devoted team leader there, serving as an inspiration to clients because she was able to reach her goal of recovery through the support of Sandhills Center and Daymark Recovery Services. Jennifer had endured a difficult childhood, and she began using substances at a young age. After Daymark provided her with hope and the individualized support she needed, Jennifer is now a committed advocate for North Carolina's behavioral health system.

"I want to share my story so others can find hope, too," Jennifer said. "I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to my community and live each day to the fullest."

Jennifer and Blake exemplify how well North Carolina's public behavioral health system works to create strong, united communities. Sandhills Center is proud to be a part of the foundation that ensures communities have access to high-quality behavioral health and I/DD care so that our members can reach their potential and fully contribute to their communities.

The partnership includes leaders from the state's seven Local Management Entitites-Managed Care Organizations (LME-MCOs) and two large provider groups that deliver high-quality behavioral health care to North Carolinians in all 100 counties.

The statewide #CareForNC campaign raises awareness of the importance of supporting individuals to reach their full potential to support a healthy and strong North Carolina. To do that, we need to ensure that our state continues to benefit from the behavioral health infrastructure built to support the foundation of vibrant and prosperous communities.
