You should call Sandhills Center at 1-800-256-2452, if you need information or help to gain access to mental health, substance use disorder, or intellectual/developmental disabilities treatment. We will help you find the services you need.
What will happen when I call?
You will be treated with courtesy and respect. A licensed clinician will ask several questions to assess the nature and urgency of your situation.
Afterward, the clinician will invite you to choose from providers of services that are available to meet your needs. An appointment can be made while you are on the line.
What services are available?
The list of services we provide is long and includes many treatment options for mental health, substance use disorder and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Examples include (but are not limited to):

Who provides the services?
The Sandhills Center clinicians perform initial screenings. Per state policy, services are delivered through providers with whom Sandhills Center has contractual arrangements.
Our staff will advise you of all available providers and let you choose. We can make appointments for you and follow up to make sure that you were helped.
How much will it cost?
There is no cost for the call, screening or referral. In many cases, treatment costs may be covered completely or in part by Medicare, Medicaid or the State of North Carolina. Your call will place you under no obligation. Sandhills Center clinicians can provide detailed information for your specific circumstances.
Will my privacy be protected?
Yes. Sandhills Center will maintain total confidentiality regarding everything pertaining to your situation. In addition, the federal government imposes very harsh penalties on employees in medical offices that inappropriately release information about consumers.

If someone is experiencing a behavioral health crisis, contact our Behavioral Health Crisis Line toll-free at 1-833-600-2054. If an individual appears to be in imminent danger to themselves, you or others, immediately call 911.
