Sandhills Center cohosts pilot CIT refresher course in Lee County
Sandhills Center, in conjunction with the Sanford Police Department, recently piloted an eight-hour Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) refresher session. Five members of the Sanford Police Department graduated from the course, which was held during the week of Sept. 18, 2017. Lee County Health Department, Central Carolina Hospital and Central Carolina Community College coordinated the training with Sandhills Center. Sgt. Gregory Deck served as host officer. Throughout 2017, Sandhills Center has cohosted 13 CIT training classes in the nine-county region. Since its inception in 2008, Sandhills Center’s CIT program has trained more than 1,200 first responders.
