Authorization Information

When a consumer presents for a screening, either at the LME or at a private provider, he/she will need to be enrolled (registered) with the LME. Enrollment of consumers is done through the Access Center in the county of the consumers legal residence. Contact information for each Access Center is available on our Access Center page.

Sandhills Center LME utilizes the Carelink web-based portal for authorization requests. Prior to being able to request authorization to provide IPRS services to consumer's whose legal residence is in the Sandhills Center catchment area, provider agencies must complete Carelink training. Provider agencies that have not yet been trained may contact Liz Rickard, UM Coordinator by email at lizr@sandhillscenter.org to arrange training. Once training is completed, the provider agency may be issued usernames/passwords for Carelink in order to request authorization to deliver services and to enter treatment and billing. Carelink passwords expire every 90 days. It is the user's responsibility to change their passwords prior to the end of each 90 days. Once an agency is trained, it is expected that staff who attended training train others at their agency.

Carelink is HIPPA compliant. There is no special software to install. It requires an internet connection, and the browser Internet Explorer 5.5.SP2 or higher. Sandhills Center expects that all provider agencies keep their antivirus software up to date if they intend to use the Carelink portal.
