Consumer and Family Advisory Committee (CFAC)
PURPOSE
The Consumer and Family Advisory Committee assists Sandhills Center in implementing the North Carolina State Plan for Mental Health Reform. The CFAC is made up of individuals or family members that use Sandhills mental health, developmental disabilities or substance abuse services. CFAC members:
MISSION
The Consumer and Family Advisory Committee support and facilitate the contributions of consumers to the Sandhills service system. They advocate for improvements in quality care; identify barriers, services gaps and needs as they arise; recommend possible solutions; and serve as liaison between the Sandhills Center Local Management Entity and the community.
MEMBERSHIP
The CFAC consists of individuals or their family members, who use Sandhills mental health, developmental disabilities or substance services. Members are selected based on their disability experience and diversity to assure a broad representation. Employees of Sandhills Center or agencies that have a contract or Memorandum of Agreement cannot serve on the Sandhills CFAC. Individuals interested in the nomination process for CFAC service may complete the Committee Application available on line, or call the Sandhills Center CFAC liaison.
Meetings
The Consumer and Family Advisory Committee meets the third Tuesday of every month. The meetings are held in the Administrative Conference Room of the Sandhills Center central office in Seven Lakes from 6:15 to 8:30 P. M.
